Dear Fellow Mom on the Journey,
When you see our Little Chords lessons and resources today, you might think we have it all figured out. But behind every colorful activity and carefully crafted bilingual song is a story that might sound familiar to you. It includes late-night planning sessions with sleeping babies on our laps, lesson materials created during those precious (and unpredictable!) nap times, and business meetings squeezed between feeding schedules and preschool pickups.
This Mother's Day, I wanted to connect with you mom-to-mom, heart-to-heart. I’m not a perfect music teacher with all the answers. I am just another mother in the trenches who understands what your daily life looks like. This understanding shapes everything we create at Little Chords.
Why We Do What We Do (Even When It's Hard)
When Time Is Your Most Precious Resource
If you're reading this, you know what I mean when I say that becoming a mom completely redefined the concept of "busy." Remember when you thought you didn’t have enough hours in the day before kids? I laugh at my pre-mom self now!
When we were pregnant and launching Little Chords at the same time, there were days when creating a simple lesson plan took three times longer. Morning sickness and sheer exhaustion didn’t help. Recording demonstration videos meant carefully hiding our expanding bellies (or sometimes proudly showing them off!). Every minute spent on work felt like a precious commodity.
Yet here's what I want you to know. Those challenges are precisely why we're so passionate about what we offer your family. We understand, at a deep level, that when you choose to spend any of your limited time on music and language development, it must be genuinely worth it. Those stolen moments between diaper changes and dinner prep need to count.
Why Music and Language Matter in Those Early Years
You've likely had those chaotic days too. You know, the days spent trying to answer an important email while your little one insists, "Watch me!" for the fifteenth time. Or trying to manage a work call while your toddler decides it's the perfect moment for an operatic meltdown. Our homes became both daycare and office, and the growth of our business stretched over a long timeline.
What we discovered through those chaotic toddler years is fascinating. The early childhood brain is doing something truly miraculous. The neural connections formed between ages 0-5 lay foundations that support your child for life. Music, especially when combined with language, creates some of the strongest and most beneficial pathways possible.
This is not just teacher-talk. It’s what we witnessed firsthand with our own children. When my daughter struggled with certain sounds in her speech development, it was through singing that she mastered those sounds. When my son needed help with emotional regulation, it was our musical routines that created the structure and release he needed. These weren't just sweet moments; they were developmental breakthroughs supported by science.
Why You Don’t Need to Be a Musical Genius (Or Have Extra Time)
Let me share something honest with you. Even as music teachers, we've learned to abandon the myth of "doing it all perfectly." In the early days, I felt constant guilt about not growing our business quickly enough while worrying I wasn't present enough with my children.
You might feel that same pressure. There is the endless mental load of wondering if you're doing enough for your child's development while already stretched thin. Will they fall behind? Should you be providing more structured activities? Is screen time teaching them bad habits while you steal a moment to shower?
This is exactly why we created Little Chords the way we did. Our activities aren't designed for "super moms" with endless patience and free time (does she even exist?). They're created for real families. Our approach includes bath time songs to strengthen language skills, car ride games to develop rhythm, and bedtime routines that soothe through melody. It’s music and language learning woven into the life you're already living, not another obligation on your overwhelming list.
What We’ve Seen Music Do (And Why We’re Inviting You)
Every time I see my three-year-old spontaneously singing in two languages or creating her own little melodies, I’m reminded why we pour so many hours into Little Chords. The research is clear about music’s benefits for young children:
It strengthens language acquisition at a neurological level.
It develops mathematical thinking through patterns and rhythm.
It builds emotional regulation and expression.
It enhances memory and attention span.
It creates joyful bonding experiences that last a lifetime.
But knowing these benefits is just one thing; making them accessible to busy families is another. That's why we've designed our approach to meet you exactly where you are.
This Mother’s Day: Our Gift to Your Family
As one mother to another, I want to extend a special Mother's Day invitation. Experience firsthand what musical literacy can bring to your family with a free trial lesson. No pressure, no complicated commitment—just a chance to see if what has transformed our families might bring the same joy to yours.
You don’t need to be musical yourself. You don’t need extra hours in your day. You just need curiosity about unlocking your child's potential in a way that feels like play rather than work.
We pour our hearts into Little Chords because we've witnessed the magic music brings to developing minds—not just as teachers, but as mothers. Nothing would honor us more this Mother's Day than sharing that gift with your family.
With warmth and understanding,
The Little Chords Team
